Today we have my good friends, Joe Umphries and Jackson Ryley on the show to talk about their recent public land rifle mule deer hunt in Montana. What’s cool about this story is that they did this completely DIY with their Father’s and were able to go 4/4 on bucks in a short week of hunting
Any successful out of state adventure hunt starts months ahead of time with meticulous planning so we cover a lot of what they did to properly prepare, from scouting to gear. We talk about the importance of having backup plans and covering as much ground as possible during the first few days to really get a lay of the land and to find out where the deer are at.
Lastly, we cover each hunt in detail and how everything unfolded leading up to the shot. Jackson and Joe reveal the terrain features that held the most deer and why 3/4 bucks were taken within a few hundred yards of each other.
