On today’s show Chad talks with Patrick Rollins from Randall’s Adventure & Training and ESEE Knives about tips and tricks to survival in the backcountry. Chad and Patrick discuss the importance of food, water, and shelter and the importance of having a plan to find each one of them when things take a turn for the worse. Patrick explains the best way to build a shelter and gives some great tips for items you should always have in your pack to avoid a dangerous situation in the wilderness. In addition to important items, Patrick talks about clothing layers and how they are important to maintain correct body temperature while you are actively climbing and moving or in a resting state like glassing for wild game. In the end Chad and Patrick discuss the importance of being able to navigate using a paper map and ways to find help when you get lost like using an emergency azimuth to locate roads or trails.
